Maslany shocked everyone, delivering the television performance of the year, playing upwards of 7 (!!) characters on the Space drama, Orphan Black about a grifter who discovers she’s actually a clone. The role earned her the 2013 Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Lead Actress, beating out heavy favourites like Claire Danes and Vera Farmiga.

Claim to Fame: Actor
She may have had us purring in delight in her breakout role as Little Red Riding Hood turned man-eating (literally) werewolf on the ABC fairytale smash, Once Upon a Time but Ory is far from new to the Hollywood scene having starred in Canadian series like Higher Ground and the before-its-time vampire teen drama, Vampire High where she played the Bella/Elena-esque mortal damsel, Sherry Woods, the object of affection for the show’s main bloodthirsty vampire. Ory can now be seen in a lead role on the highly anticipated CBS spy thriller, Intelligence.

57. Tessa Virtue

Claim to Fame: Olympic Skater
Virtue captured the hearts of Canadians everywhere in 2010, winning the gold medal in pairs skating at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. However, it was her smoldering chemistry with partner (and former boyfriend) Scott Moir that really got people talking. So much so, they can now be seen in their own reality series, simply titled “Tessa & Scott.”

Lucas’s big break came when she was cast in the J.J. Abrams found-footage thriller, Cloverfield. She followed that with a guest appearance on 9O21O that lead to her scoring a lead role on the CW’s companion melodrama, Melrose Place. Her most recent series was the psychological thriller, Cult.

Since breaking out in 2001, Roberts has become one of the biggest names in Canadian rock music. The Juno-winner’s debut album, The Inhuman Condition was one of the most successful indie releases in Canada’s music history.

Claim to Fame: Actor
Zamprogna started out romancing Vancouver beauty, Kristin Kreuk on the Canadian teen drama, Edgemont but it’s his role as honourable, by-the-books police officer Dante Falconeri on General Hospital that has gotten him the most attention.

Claim to Fame: Actor
Durance broke traditions, portraying a Lois Lane that rarely needed saving on the WB drama, Smallville. She currently leads the CTV medical drama, Saving Hope.

Claim to Fame: Actor
This french-speaking beauty’s resume is bursting with TV guest appearances, most notably in One Tree Hill, CSI: New York and Two and a Half Men as well as two of the SAW movies.

Canadian Connection: Raised in Toronto, Ontario
Claim to Fame: Actor
Acting wasn’t Speedman’s first choice in careers. In fact, he almost made it to the 1992 Olympics in competitive swimming but had to bow out after suffering a neck injury. He was discovered after making a Speaker’s Corner video where he professed an interest in auditioning for the role of Robin in Batman Forever. While that role went to Chris O’Donnell, he did win over the hearts of Felicity’s female fans, playing Ben Covington on the WB series.
